One year ago today we lost an extraordinary man, Richard Gilder. I was employed for 37 years by the company he founded (now known as Gilder Gagnon Howe & Co. LLC) and it is no exaggeration to say it was an honor and a privilege to know him and to be a part of the firm he guided for over 50 years.Mr. Gilder (or "RG" as many of us called him) died on May 12, 2020, a Wall Street legend and dedicated philanthropist. One beneficiary of RG's generosity is Central Park in New York City, and the bench pictured above, which I visited in the park today to honor his memory, is named for him and his widow, Lois Chiles.
